AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that breaks conventional predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine cult.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre trials and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Transformations
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Features
Players who finish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to multiple items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Content
This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Anime Partnerships
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
